Operating Temperature of a Standard Coreless Vibration Motor


The operating temperature of a coreless motor (ironless motor) depends on several factors, including the type of internal magnetic material, winding material, load conditions, and operating environment.

General Operating Temperature Range:
– Recommended Operating Temperature: -10°C to 60°C
– Maximum Operating Temperature: -20°C to 80°C (performance may be affected)

Impact of Temperature on Magnets:
Most coreless motors use neodymium (NdFeB) magnets, whose magnetic properties weaken as temperature increases, affecting motor efficiency and output performance:
Below 60°C: Minimal impact, magnetic properties remain stable.
Above 80°C: Magnetic strength starts to weaken, reducing motor torque.
Above 150°C: Standard neodymium magnets may suffer irreversible demagnetization, leading to performance degradation or motor failure.

How to Prevent High-Temperature Issues:
1. Reduce Continuous Load – Avoid running the motor at full load for long periods to prevent overheating.
2. Optimize Heat Dissipation – Ensure proper ventilation or use heat sinks to maintain a stable operating temperature.
3. Use High-Temperature Magnets – For applications requiring higher temperatures, consider Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) magnets, which can withstand up to 250°C.
4. Adjust Driving Voltage – Avoid excessive voltage, which can overheat the windings and shorten motor lifespan.
